Abstract

The principles of change and continuity are essential elements for the correct understanding of History and its suitable education. An essential characteristic of historical knowledge is based precisely on the specificity of every period, that presents its own aspects which are different from others and have a different “mental universe”. Thus, the idea of change is intrinsic to history, because it is in it, like in the whole society, where everything is constantly changing and nothing remains immutable. However, it should not be understood only as progress, but also as modification, transformation and evolution in society. For that reason, the idea of change is inconceivable without time, this way, the interpretative anachronism is avoided, because the directionality of history belongs to the inaccessible world of the unknown.
