Among the various metabolic alterations in childhood, is Glutaric Aciduria Type 1 (GA-1). This refers to a metabolic disorder of autosomal recessive inheritance and progressive character due to the deficiency of the enzyme glutaryl-CoA-dehydrogenase (GCDH). Affected patients may present cerebral atrophy, macrocephaly and dystonia, pictures that affect autonomy and compromising functional capacity participation in school and social activities. Aim: To identify potential non-pharmacological treatments for the physical-therapeutic approach of GA-1 of boys and girls with orientations towards physical education teachers. Methods: A search was carried out for studies of the type: Meta-analysis, systematic reviews and randomized controlled studies in indexed databases such as: PubMed, Scielo, Scopus and Web of Science. Results & discussion: It is established that assisted physical exercise programs focused on gait pattern, strength, and dynamic and static balance, can be beneficial for the autonomy and functional independence of boys and girls with GA-1. Despite the scant evidence regarding physical therapies and AG-1, it is recommended not to suspend treatments, in order to avoid complications of the disease in childhood. Conclusions: Physical exercise applied by physical education teachers in educational contexts should be considered a complementary therapy to pharmacological and nutritional treatment, it is necessary to design guidelines for the individual and collective approach of school-age boys and girls with GA. -1.
