Abstract

Nowadays, the teaching-learning process is evolving towards a student-centered approach, which increases the importance of the use of active and participatory methodologies that motivate and involve the student in their own learning, as well as the use of a formative assessment that generates feedback on the student’s progress during this process. This is the case of the Escape Room and the Service-Learning (SL) methodology, whose use is increasing within the classroom. In this work, a comparison of the effect on motivation in a total of 37 students of the Double Degree of Primary Education and Physical Activity and Sports Sciences of Melilla for the content of “Assessment of physical condition in older adults” has been made through a validated questionnaire. The results have shown significant differences (p <0.05) between the two groups in various items evaluated, such as the use of different methodological strategies, use of audiovisual media, learning management, teamwork and satisfaction with the type of evaluation. In conclusion, both methodologies are interesting and well received by the students, although the SL shows a greater perception of the acquisition of certain professional skills by the students.
