Abstract
In support of a previously proposed theory, the author adds new evidence about the preservation of the intervocalic /y/, a feature found in several Castilian dialects geographically apart. He also offers data about the tendency towards its velarisation, as can be seen in the grapheme x used in several words from 16th century texts from different peninsular regions. Finally he points to the fact that this change happened even in word initial.
