Résumé

In this work, current technologies for fuel ethanol production are shown. Two potential Colombian feedstocks were evaluated: sugar cane and corn. The most suitable process for each raw material was selected taking into account economical and environmental criteria. Finally, chosen processes were simulated, obtaining similar results related to real processes. Simulation techniques demonstrated to be a powerful tool allowing the minimization of time and expenses during the experimental runs required for process design.
