Resumen

Dmante los juegos de gladiadores (munera gladiatorum), un estudio especial merecen las mujeres que se dedicaban a la gladiatura. La existencia de mujeres gladiadoras es indiscutible, aunque la documentación que disponemos para su estudio es escasa y limitada. En este trabajo analizamos ponnenorizadamente los textos clásicos, las inscripciones y otros elementos figurativos que avalan la presencia de la mujer romana en la gladiatma.Prestamos especial atención a una estatuilla de bronce conservada en el M useum für Kunst und Gewerbe de Hamburgo, tradicionalmente mal interpretada por algunos investigadores, que la consideraban como una atleta femenina con estrigilo, y que ahora, tras un análisis minucioso de la pieza, podemos asegurar que se trata de una auténtica mujer gladiadora.
