Abstract
In this paper we present the study of alveolar rhotic variation in coda and fi nal position in the Spanish of Granada. Th is Andalusian city is located in a convergent linguistic area in which, in recent decades, the linguistic model of the septentrional Spanish is becoming increasingly important. Th e aim of this paper is to verify if there are innovative or conservative tendencies among its speakers. For this reason, we study linguistics and extralinguistics factors which may infl uence the variation of / ɾ/.
