Abstract

ABSTRACT Objectives. The analyzed questions were several synthesized through the filing generals and specifics objectives, to try to give answer to the following questions: 1. Frequency of the cares and number of grandchildren in change of. 2. More frequent activities to caring. 3. Average of hours daily and weekly dedicated to the cares. 4. Time in years that those grandparents are caring of. 5. Grade of consideration as caregiver grandparents and slaves grandparents. 6. Main causes that have came to that these grandparents are caring. 7. Main positive, negative feelings in addition to the experienced overload index as consequence of cares. In the case of negative feelings and overload, find out the frequency and reasons that generate them. 8. Possible negative effects on the heath of these grandparents. 9. Consideration if the socio-demographic variables; age of the grandchildren, number of grandchildren at care, frequency of the cares, activities to develop, heath, age, and ethnic group of the grandparents, can affect on a significant way in the cares and which effect carries each of these variables. 10. Grade of consideration if on time of economic recession, the cares given by the grandparents, could be considerate as a substitute of the children gardens and other school services. 11. Find out by the way of producing a growing need to practice the cares, bad behavior of the grandchildren, bad relationships and conflicts between the grandparents and the parents, create a good cause to quit to care, or for the contrary always care. Methodology. The used methodology has been mixed with quantitative and qualifying type using different technics to get the information, in the case of quantitative methodology the questionnaires and for the qualifying semi-structured interviews and participated observation. Main conclusions or results: The frequency of cares is daily, every two or three days, weekly and one or two time by month, having the care of one grandchild until a maximum of three. The more frequent activities are taking a walk, taking the grandchildren to gardens and parks so that they play, carrying and picking up the grandchildren to and from school and extracurricular activities and playing with the grandchildren. The average hours per day used in the cares and minimum two until maximum six hours and for the week a temporary interval of 11 to 30 hours. The selected grandparents are caring of their grandchildren a time minimum of two years until a maximum of twelve years ago. Respect to considerate themself as caregiver grandparents they do not hesitate to identify themselves as so, but no instead as slave grandparents. The main cause that has generated the cares are the professional motives of the parents. The positive feelings that are experiencing as consequence of the cares are: usefulness, juvenescence, happiness, satisfaction, and enthusiasm. And the negative feeling are mainly: tiredness, exhaustion, stress and with minimum frequency, depression, anxiety and insomnia, moreover to get to feeling of overload. The main reasons which create negative feelings are: overload of roles, traduced in an evident volume of work, excessive volume of work of domestic ambit, to participate in leisure activities and leisure time, playing with grandchildren and their disobedience. And the reasons of the overload correspond to the overload of roles and excessive volume of domestic work. With respect to the health on direct way it does not effects, even though determinate illnesses derivate from age can appear, which determinate them to realize activities with physical effort, with make them tired and exhausted. It is considerate that the number of grandchildren to care, the age of the grandchildren, activities to realize, frequency of the cares, age and health of the grandparents, affect significantly to the cares, carrying major volume of work and overload, more negatives feelings, and difficulty to make well the cares. Respect to the ethnic group it has not been meaningful. It is considerate that on recession time the cares are substitute of children gardens and other school services.
