Abstract

The study of in vitro development and germination of pollen grains is of great interest both from the point of view of teaching and for its applications to plant improvement. The objective of this work is to contribute to the practical knowledge by the students of a course of Plant Biotechnology of the development and germination of pollen grains and their applications to the genetic improvement of crops. These applications include obtaining haploid individuals, the study of male cytoplasmic sterility and greater control over the flowering and fruiting of crops.
