Abstract
The study of history of the potteries of Andalusian Murcia (ss. IX-XIII) is a good indicator to urban development of the city in that period. The potteries are not necessarily a suburban setting, as traditionally have been saying, because they may be inside the walled towns when the urban fabric is not dense. However, there is a tendency to move outwards potteries as the village becomes saturated, first from urban center to the periphery of the medina; then, from inside the medina to the suburbs beyond the city wall, and, finally, from the areas of the suburbs closer to the medina to those located farther.
