Abstract

In the XIV International Congress of Graphic Engineering taken place in Santander in 2002, we presented in a Communication the different ways to represent, in the XVI and XVII centuries, the orography of the land in the plans that the engineers prepared for the construction of the diverse civil and military public works. In this occasion, following the same methodology, we enlarge the investigation to the XVIII century, studying the application of the most intuitive procedures as the turned profiles, the parallel perspective (later on isometric oblique view), the spot points and the shading. We will see as those ways of representing are common in the work proyectivo of the Spanish engineers, especially the military ones, of this century. It is our intention to analyze the application of the drawing techniques of historical cartography to the drawing of plans for public works projects in that era.
