Zusammenfassung

The aims of this study were to evaluate the physical activity levels of young female tennis players and to determine differences between age categories. The 11 best regional players were selected (U12, n = 7; U14, n = 4) completed a battery of 14 physical tests consisting of: bilateral and unilateral jump capacity, sprint velocity in 10m and 20m, medicine ball throwing simulating tennis strokes, handgrip strength, service speed test, and a specific endurance test for tennis. U14 players showed higher values in all test, reaching statistical significance level in 10 of the 14 tests, although the tests of throws (serve, right and reverse) and the manual dynamometry, were those that had a higher effect size. These results can be used as reference values for coaches and physical conditioners during the evaluation and monitoring of athletes in formative stages.
