Resumen

La Política Energética Europea tiene como principal desafío garantizar el aprovisionamiento de energía del exterior en un contexto internacional que cada vez se torna más competitivo. De entre todas las iniciativas que la componen, el desarrollo de nuevas infraestructuras que ayuden a diversificar el aprovisionamiento energético se ha convertido en una de las principales actuaciones perseguidas por la Unión Europea. Debido a cuestiones geopolíticas y técnicas, el Corredor Meridional presenta demasiadas incertidumbres a no ser que incluya a Irán como fuente de suministro. A pesar de lo cual, las sanciones internacionales impuestas a Irán como resultado de su programa de armamento nuclear y de las que la Unión es parte imposibilitan la cooperación energética afectando, con ello, toda la estrategia europea en materia de energía.
