Resumen
About 5-10% of skin malignancies affect the periocular area, and most of them can be suspected during the clinical assessment of the patients. Due to the special characteristics regarding the anatomy and function of the eyelids, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment, of malignant tumors affecting this area, are also particular. The presence of multiple tissues of different nature makes possible to find tumors of a wide variety of etiologies. Epithelial carcinomas are the most frequent, followed by sebaceous carcinoma, Merkel´s cell carcinoma, and melanoma. The general features of each tumor are described below in detail.
