Résumé
This article aims to explain the two dominant positions in Germany in sociological theory: the first, functionalist, represented by Niklas Luhmann, and the second, with a clear normative profile, represented by Jürgen Habermas. Both engaged in a discussion, still open, whose results may be important to investigate the nature of the social fact. The first accused of conservative, the second of putting the normativity before the scientific requirement. The philosophical presuppositions of both seem irrevocable. It may be that in the future we can define a point of union between both theories.
