Abstract

Objective: to compare supraglottic devices versus non-surgical infraglottic devices in airway management, to determine which of them gets the best conditions for efficient use in emergency and emergency care. Methods: the research was done in Pubmed, Cinahl and Scopus database. All those randomized clinical trials whose age does not exceed 10 years, written in both English and Spanish on the pediatric or adult population, have been included in this review. Trials performed on cadavers or mannequins were excluded. To assess the methodological quality of the trials we have used the PEDro scale. Results: we found a total of 8 clinical trials that keep the inclusion criteria. Conclusions: it would be convenient, but not necessary, to use supraglottic devices in emergency situations.
