Résumé
In this work, we make a compilation of prehistoric anthropomorphic figures on different types of surfaces (rock shelters, rock-cut tombs, pottery, etc. in Western Mediterranean islands: Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica. Some of the sites, such as the Addaura and Levanzo sites in Sicily, show scenes that allow us to make some suggestions about the meaning of the schematic rock ‘art’ I the islands. The number of sites has increased the last years thank to new surveys and use of such new techniques as D-Stretch, especially in Sardinia. The chronological setting is the main problem when discussing these ensembles, but continuity in the ritual use of human images can be observed from, the Upper Palaeolithic to the Bronze Age.
