Abstract

The objective of this study is to know the accuracy and the reproducibility of the establishments of dental age carried out in a sample of 300 pediatric odontology patients from Granada (Spain) between the ages of 4 and 14, by means of Nolla's method and Demirjian et al.`s method. We also study if both methods work in a different way according to sex. The stages which have been observed by means of these methods show a similar reproducibility. However, Demirjian et al.'s method has shown estimations of the dental age whose average is 0.90 ± 0.93 years higher than that of the chronological age of the patients of the sample. Nolla's method tends to estimate a dental age 030 ± 0.82 years lower than the chronological age of our patients. The difference between the dental and the chronological age of the girls subsample is wider than that of the boys one.
