Abstract

The aim of this brief notice is to present a rib from a Gothic style archway  recently discover in an archaeological excavations located west of the Faculty  of Phylosophy and Letters on the occasion of the redevelopment of the  University Campus of Cartuja (Granada). Its features and context of discovery  suggest that this piece belonged to the first Carthusian Monastery,  known as the «Old Cartuja», which were a building of great importance in the  transformation of the medieval lands located on the suburban sector of  Granada but whose architectural aspects are virtually unknown.
