Abstract
Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is the technique of choice for biliary drainage, whether in cases of benign or malignant biliary obstruction. However, when this technique is not effective or feasible, there are several available alternatives, the most commonly used until now being percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography (PTC). However, nowadays, endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage (EUS-BD) is increasingly used as an alternative to interventional radiology or surgery. In this review we will discuss the results of this type of drainage in comparison with the others, as well as the different types of techniques available and their results in clinical practice.
