Abstract

The aim of the present study was to analyze young people’s performance in the game 1x1 and 2x2, based on decision making and adjustment (actions without ball). The sample was composed by 1513 game actions registries by video system. In order to analysed the player’s perfor-mance during the game, we used the instrument of GPAI (Game Performance Assessment Instrument) (Oslin, Mitchell & Griffin, 1998), adapted to Volleyball by Mesquita (2006). We appealed to descriptive statistics to obtain results of frequency and occurrence percentages and the inferential analysis, the test Qui-Square in order to analyse the differences between the two types of games. The results show that the players registered better performance in the game 1x1 in the decision making service and reception actions, as well as the adjustment in reception. The higher students’ tactical awareness and the adjustment difficulty suggest the necessity to characterise the methodology applied in the physical educations class.
