Resum

The first objective of this Doctoral Thesis was to perform the transcultural adaptation and validation of the Spanish version of the Female Sexual Function Index in middle-aged and older postmenopausal women. The results showed that this tool had good psychometric properties and was able to discriminate between participants with or without female sexual dysfunction. The second study analyzed the possible associations of sarcopenia, diagnosed with the European working Group on Sarcopenia in older people (EWGSOP-1 y 2) criteria, sarcopenic obesity and the severity of menopausal symptoms, with female sexual function (FSF). Considering possible confounders, the analysis indicated that: i) greater body mass index, lower muscle strength and the presence of sarcopenic obesity (EWGSOP-1), and ii) a severe impact of the menopausal symptoms, especially in urogenital and psychological domains, were independently associated with poorer FSF.
