Resumo
Research methods used in several studies on phonological awareness were reviewed and classified according to the tasks used. After a brief introduction, a taxonomy of fifteen basic tasks is proposed. This includes a description of each basic task and reference to researchers who have used them in their work. Both between and within task variability are then considered in some detail, and results of their manipulation discussed. Finally some future lines of research are suggested together with ideas for improving phonological skills.
