Résumé

Celiac disease (CD) is a chronic enteropathy of the small intestine whose classic presentation is characterized by symptoms of diarrhea and malabsorption of nutrients. Melanosis coli, characterized by the hyperpigmentation of the mucosa of the colon, is frequently diagnosed during examinations in patients with chronic constipation treated with laxatives. Approach/Results. We report the case of a woman diagnosed with CD, whose colonoscopy showed melanosis coli. Conclusions. Although the association between CD and a constipated bowel habit has been described, the development of melanosis coli is a rare finding not previously described in a celiac patient.
