Resumen

Fluorometric techniques are currently being widely employed in biosensor developing owing to their great accuracy and sensitivity. However, accurate quantification in biological samples can be quite challenging due to some interferences such as heterogeneity of samples, localized accumulation of fluorophore or autofluorescence. Therefore, there is an urgent need for finding new fluorescent molecules and methodologies that are capable of overcoming such difficulties. To meet this objective, this PhD Thesis proposes the development of new methodologies and nanoplatforms based on time-resolved fluorescence microscopy techniques and time-gated analysis that allow improving specificity by eliminating unwanted contributions through the use of fluorophores with long luminescence lifetimes.
