Abstract

Vitreous materials of the system Li2O-SiO2 have been prepared by the sol-gel procedure. Their electrical behaviour have been studied by complex impedance spectroscopy. The Li20-content of the samples and the atmospheric humidity during measurements are the factors that determine the conductivity data obtained. Such humidity favours an increase of the electrical conductivity due to the hidratation of gels. The superfícial electrical conductivity of samples increases with Li20-content. Both Lirions and conducting species of adsorbed water in gels play an important role in the conduction mechanism.
