Resumen

We studied the occurrence of ringed White Storks Ciconia ciconia in I the Caceres rubbish dump during the 1989 and 1990 breeding seasons. Jhe highest mean number of birds was recorded during April, while May was the month with the lowest numbers. Birds younger than four years old were more frequent, and were present in higher proportions than expected, taking into account the mortality rates of the species. First-year birds were the most abundant of the age-classes below four years old, and the only category more frequent than expected. During the study period White Storks remained at the rubbish dump for similar periods of time irrespective of the two age-classes defined. Jhe results show the importance of additional food for immature birds
