Abstract

The purpose of this work is to show that it is possible to understand the language of comics through a practical and experimental approach. The basis of this research is the creation of a comic and its subsequent analysis in search of graphic-narrative codes of interest. During the creation and analysis, we have thought about the medium and have explored various aspects of comic: its narrative possibilities within the page, its close relationship with other disciplines, the altered reading direction, multilinearity, holistic reading, metanarrative elements, and also its dependence on the frame and its structuring capacity. The experimental nature of this comic, and its predisposition to seek different alternatives to the conventional narrative based on the fixed grid, has generated a wide repertoire of narrative solutions, some of them in disuse, others, however, explored by contemporary authors in their works, either occasionally or insistently. After the reflections and conclusions derived from the analysis, many of the results have been implemented in a series of works that seek to exploit or expand the possibilities of certain graphic-narrative resources present in the comic. These final recreations close this research process, while leaving the cycle open for future research and/or creations.
