Résumé

Traffic accidents are the main cause of trauma death for pregnant women in developed countries, followed by physical aggression and burning. Injuries are similar in pregnant and non-pregnant women but the anatomic and physiological changes during pregnancy may result in different organic responses to trauma. Therefore, pre-hospital assessment and treatment must be adapted to the special changes that take place during pregnancy. No specific medical information related to outhospital assessment to pregnant patients in traffic accidents is available nowadays, which may result in delays or hesitation from the part of health professionals. It is therefore essential to have updated emergency protocols for carers and other kind of professionals, to improve performance in these situations.
