Abstract

Introduction: The skin is the largest and most complex organ that covers the entire surface of the body , whose main functions are protective function, barrier , sensory, thermoregulation, secretory , excretory and metabolic. Skin aging is caused by endogenous factors that are prominent in human physiology such as genetics and are not modifiable, or by exogenous factors such as air pollution and radiation, diet, physical exercise and tobacco. Objective: To prevent skin aging and minimize skin damage. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional narrative descriptive study carried out through a bibliographic review in the databases of Pubmed, Scielo, Cochrane Library, Cuiden. Results: Aging is characterized by a gradual deterioration of tissues over the years caused by the dimension of stem cell activity, To this must be added the influence of endogenous and exogenous factors that are the cause of original alterations in the body causing an early aging. Conclusion: Informing the population of the factors that cause aging, as well as an early prevention causes a decrease in premature aging of the skin.
