Résumé

Introduction: Extravasation is defined as the unintended, inadvertent, or accidental leakage of drugs administered intravenously into the perivascular and subcutaneous space during their administration. Extravasation is one of the most serious complications that can appear during the administration of cytostatic drugs. Objective: The objective is to know the procedures to carry out in the event of extravasation during the administration of cytostatic drugs. Methodology: A narrative review of the latest scientific evidence from journals indexed in the Cochrane Library, Pubmed, Cuiden and Medine databases has been carried out. Results: Cytostatic extravasation can cause consequences of varying severity, from simple edema and swelling to severe necrosis, it can affect the quality of life of the patient and can compromise the effectiveness of the treatment. For all this, the extravasation of cytostatic drugs should be considered a medical emergency and should be treated early to avoid complications. Conclusion: It is essential to know the procedure for action in the event of an extravasation in the administration of cytostatic drugs.
