Abstract
Pseudomyxoma peritonei refers to the accumulation of mucin within the peritoneal cavity secondary to mucinous epithelial neoplasia. This most often occurs because of a neoplasm from the appendix but it has also been described with colon, ovary or gallbladder tumors. Its finding should make us suspect of a mucinous neoplasm, although in many cases, the insidious development of this entity and the long time interval between the diagnosis of the primary tumor and the development of the pseudomyxoma, may make difficult to relate them.
