Abstract
Primary rectal melanoma is an extremely rare and aggressive disease. We present a case of a female of 77 years-old with previous right hemicolectomy due to colorectal carcinoma. In colonoscopy surveillance, a rectal melanoma is found. The patient underwent an abdominoperineal resection, finding peritoneal dissemination. Tumour progression occurs in spite of immunotherapy. Anorectal melanoma represents only 0.5-4% of all anorectal malignancies. It typically presents in women in the fifth or sixth decade of life. Symptoms are usually nonspecific. Due to the hidden location and lack of early symptoms, the diagnosis of anorectal melanoma is often delayed. There is no consensus regarding treatment. Further studies are needed to improve the survival of anorectal melanomas.
