Resumen

The main purpose of this research is to assess the adoption of renewable energies in households, especially two clean sources of power: biomass and solar energies. In order to achieve its goal, this research examines the most critical mediating variables proposed in the scientific literature regarding the pro-environmental performance and behavior: prior knowledge of renewable energies, attitude and the adoption rate of renewable energies. The current research approached a behavioral model analyzed through PLS based on information collected from 182 potential adopters of sources of renewable energies. Results obtained show that the most significant driver for the actual adoption of renewable energies is the attitude toward these sources of power. This study also contributes relevant managerial implications for professionals in the energy sector and for the institutions in charge of promoting the use of renewable energies.
