Abstract

Biliary lithiasis is an infrequent cause of mechanical intestinal obstruction, with a prevalence of 4% in the general population, which increases to 25% in patients over 65 years of age, affecting women in a higher proportion. We present five cases of patients with biliary ileus treated in our center in the last five years, with either enterotomy over the affected area with subsequent primary suture for stone extraction, or segmental resection of the small bowel fragment where the lithiasis was lodged due to signs of complication (perforation, ischemia, ...).
