Résumé

Intestinal perforation by foreign body is an entity that occurs about 1% of the times that it is swallowed and reaches the small intestine. The clinical presentation and its etiology are usually difficult to recognize, opening a wide range of differential diagnoses to take into account. We report the case of an 65-year-old man, whose abdominal pain is first attributed to the presence of an incarcerated supraumbilical hernia. The intraoperative findings are the existence of an acute abscessified peritonitis with an abdominal adjacent collection due to the perforation of the intestine by a foreign body.
