Abstract

Duodenal gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are rare mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. The tumors are derived from interstitial cells of Cajal and usually present as gastrointestinal bleeding or nonspecific abdominal pain, but can also be asymptomatic even if they have reached a considerable size. We present a case of upper gastrointestinal bleeding from a duodenal GIST requiring emergency surgery
