Abstract

An overview of the book 'State, Society and Islam in the Western Regions of the Sahara' is presented. This collective work brings together the results of the Capsahara research project, funded by the European Research Council. The book delves into the complex relationships between the state, Islam and identity formation in the western region of the Sahara through an interdisciplinary analysis that includes both diversity and shared cultural and historical heritage. The book focuses on actors that are generally under-studied in literature on the region and provides a comprehensive and up-to-date perspective through extensive fieldwork.
