La construcción de la diferencia: la representación de las migraciones en prensa

Abstract

This thesis deals with how the phenomenon of migration is represented in the press. This is a subject that has been widely covered in the scientific literature. In our case, we have only wanted to add a few nuances to what has already been written. On the one hand, to contrast the sources of information used in the media with the news that the media then produce (first part of the thesis). On the other hand, to present two very specific examples in which the media's representation of migrations and migrants has specific effects: these are the cases of the representation of migrations in development cooperation and the representation of (refugee) women in the media (second part). Finally, we provide an alternative to the way in which the media might deal with migration and migrants (third part of the thesis). At last, we reflect together with media experts abouts these representations as a whole.
