Resumen

Purpose: To describe a case of Terson syndrome, defined as an oculocerebral syndrome of ocular haemorrhage associated with subarachnoid haemorrhage or all forms of intracranial bleeding, and its treatment options. Method: Here we report a 9-year-old male patient who suffered from blurred vision after surgery of an arachnoid cist. He was diagnosed as Terson syndrome as a complication due to the intervention. Outcomes: We opted for observation and periodic reviews because of the extension of the haemorrhage and the age of the pacient. After a month, the vision improved in both eyes and the bleeding was smaller. Conclusions: In mild haemorrhages without risk factors, only observation could be possible. If there are complications or the bleeding is very abundant at the beginnig, one good option is to performance a vitrectomy. In between of this two therapeutic options, the Nd: Yag laser could be considered as another alternative.
