Abstract

At the moment it is necessary to make coexist the agroenergy, the food security and the environmental protection. This is the purpose of the international project BIOMAS-CUBA, under the leadership of “Indio Hatuey” Research Station This project, carried our since 2009, has generated results in the technological and innovative development associated to the biodiesel, to the biogas and the gasification of the residual biomass, with a favorable economic, social and environmental impact, as well as a strong links between science-productive-decision makers sectors productive-decision-makers in six different Cuban provinces, by means of the integrated production of foods and energy, in harmony with the environment. Two types of productive models have been developed: the integration of 176 biodigestors of fixed dome, tubular of polyethylene and cover lagoon in farms of animal and plant production, as well as the sowing and agronomic management of 460 has of Jatropha curcas and crops associated for biodiesel production. Also, two plants of biodiesel production have been established, 98 plants of production of the bioproduct named and registered as IHplus®, with multiple uses, based in the reproduction of native microorganisms in rural farms, and four networks of biogas supply, fed from biodigestores that benefit 53 houses and 272 people in Cabaiguán municipality, in the center of the country. Those constitutes the first rural communities in Cuba with a supply of biogas for cooking the foods and other uses. Everything has generated it a notable increase of the local production of foods, the improvement of the quality of life and the revenues of the rural families. In this article, innovative experiences of production and use of native microorganisms in rural farms, are shown.
