Resumen

Painter of the Malaspina Expedition, the figure of the sevillian José del Pozo had a notable influence on the artistic panorama of Lima at the end of the 18th century and the first decades of the 1800s. In this way, in the city of the Kings he participated together with Matias Maestro in commissions for different Lima parishes that responded to the glorification of the different peruvian saints in the times close to independence. However, this article aims to point out some biographical details on his training at the School of the Three Noble Arts in Seville, before his departure on the aforementioned Malaspina Expedition in 1789 and his relationship with key actors in the Seville city such as Francisco de Bruna. or the painter Juan de Espinal.
