Resum

Teachers, due to the characteristics of their work, do not often enjoy temporary spaces that allow them to create a warm work climate among co-workers from the same center (Skaalvik and Skaalvik, 2015). Consequently, physical activity (AF), in addition to its health benefits (Bize, Johnson, and Plotnikoff, 2007), can be an ideal vehicle to achieve higher quality interpersonal relationships among teachers (Andersen et al., 2015) . In this sense, the present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an AF intervention on the social relationships of 16 female teachers (M = 48.75 ± 7.45) from the same center. The intervention program consisted of 32 AF sessions that combined walks, cooperative contents, fitness and healthy backs. It was developed between the months of November and June with a periodicity of two sessions of one hour per week. At the end, a discussion group was held. In line with other intervention studies based on AF in workers (eg, Podlog and Dionigi, 2009), the results of this study highlight the importance of conducting AF to get to know colleagues in another context and improve the integration of those who they take less time In addition, they make it possible to identify the usefulness of the program in order to improve interpersonal relationships and achieve another level of communication among the center's colleagues. Finally, it is also evident that this improvement in social relationships between colleagues had an effect on their commitment, being beneficial when working as a team in other educational projects. Thus, it seems important to promote the practice of this type of PA dynamics among teachers, which in addition to having a positive impact on their health, can be beneficial for the improvement of the functioning of educational centers and the quality of education. teaching.
