Resumen

For the study and optimisation of a pillbox cavity, it has been investigated how the electromagnetic field works inside it and what is the process by which it accelerates particles. We havealso studied, using a 2-D electromagnetic simulator, Superfish , interesting magnitudes that describe the accelerator such as the resonance frequency, the power dissipated by the cavity walls,the shunt impedance and the kinetic energy. In order to try to improve the parameters that characterize the pillbox cavity, changes in the geometry of the cavity have been carried out to seehow the magnitudes to be studied changed. Essentially three changes have been carried out, onthe one hand the inclination of the outer walls has been modified. The height of the nose coneand the width of the accelerator have also been modified to obtain better results than the initialones.
