Abstract

In this study the influence of the natural / green spaces formed in the home has been analyzed, as a coping resource in the face of the repercussions that the derived state of confinement has on mental health (level of stress, depression, anxiety, hostility and joy) of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic. For this, a sample of 337 Spanish participants responded during the period of confinement to a questionnaire about structural variables of their home, about their emotional states and about the frequency with which they made certain guidelines or behavioral routines as coping resources. The results found show that those people with availability of green areas in their homes, put in place greater coping strategies and presented more positive emotional states, than those other people who did not have green spaces in their homes. The positive and restorative effect of nature is exposed to the experience of confinement, as well as the role of maintaining behavioral routines to preserve mental health.
