Fisioterapia y ejercicio terapéutico para la fibromialgia

Resumen

El Síndrome de Fibromialgia es una patología con etiología desconocida, lo que hace que tenga un pronóstico poco favorable. El diagnóstico consiste principalmente ante los resultados negativos para otras patologías, ya que no existe un desencadenante traumático o inflamatorio que lo justifique. Hoy en día se sigue utilizando la valoración de los 18 puntos dolorosos a lo largo del cuerpo, además de cuestionarios auto implementados y test funcionales. Se ha demostrado que el tratamiento más efectivo es el multidisciplinar, uniendo tratamiento farmacológico, psicológico y fisioterapia (en especial el ejercicio terapéutico). El ejercicio terapéutico prescrito debe partir de la base de estar adecuado a los gustos de la paciente, con una intensidad leve. Posteriormente esta intensidad debe ir aumentando lenta y progresivamente, adaptándose a las condiciones de la paciente. Al ser un síndrome con fluctuaciones en su evolución, el profesional que lleve a cabo dicho tratamiento debe saber adaptar el tratamiento a estas fluctuaciones, así como distinguir entre un efecto secundario del tratamiento de una exacerbación de los síntomas, así como poder prevenirlas. A pesar de todo aún queda mucho por estudiar en esta patología por lo que se recomienda seguir investigando para poder tratar adecuadamente a las pacientes con fibromialgia.
