Abstract
Advances in technology are revolutionizing how learning takes place. Online and distance learning options offer the teachers the opportunity to dip in and out of learning as and when they need. All ofthis has led to an increase in research that investigates the effects of the new technologies on learning in different contexts including the outcome of learning as well as the process of learning. However, one area where there is still a dearth of research is TEL tools in the Literacy Education and Second Language Learning for Adults (LESLLA) context. An obvious advantage is that TEL tools can address the multi-level/multi-background challenge most teachers face when working with migrants. It can also provide a medium to support professional teacher development and training through community building and sharing experiences and knowledge across countries. In this chapter, we will detail two examples of how advances in technology can help address two key issues in the LESLLA context.
