Abstract

Smoking, hypertension and obesity, among others, are important risk factors for the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD), being the main cause of preventable disease and death in most countries. Our main purpose is to analyze the role of Nurses in the prevention of cardiovascular disease on smoking population with high blood pressure and / or obesity. It is an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study. To collect the information, an anonymous and volun-tary survey has been used. The sample is made up of 400 people. The qualitative sociodemographic variables are age, sex, smoking status, hypertension, obesity and the rest of the qualitative variables are related to suffering from cardiovascular disease. It is an univariate analysis, frequencies and percent-ages have been used for qualitative variables. Results show that a total of 36 participants in the sam-ple are diagnosed with CVD, 9 of which are smokers, 11 are obese, 15 are hypertensive and 7 meet two or more of the following factors: hypertensive, obese and / or smoker. Therefore we conclude that there is a clear need to claim and increase nurse involvement in carrying out controls in order to prevent, diagnose and treat CVD early
