Abstract

Acute abdominal pain can have different causes and can present as a condition that requires urgent surgical treatment. One of the most frequent causes is acute appendicitis, but there are a variety of etiologies that can be similar to this pathology, as the one presented in the clinical case. For this reason, it is important to make a differential diagnosis of pain that appears in the right lower quadrant and request additional tests if necessary. Another cause of abdominal pain this place may be the presence of abdominal flanges or adhesions, which can trigger intestinal obstruction or entrapment of intraperitoneal viscera. We present the case of a young woman with torsion of the right fallopian tube due to a congenital omental flange, a very rare etiology described in the literature.
