Abstract

As a pioneer in the fight for women’s rights, the Senegalese Mariama Bâ is the first African novelist to describe the place of women in her society. At the heart of this novel is the letter that Ramatoulaye addresses to her best friend. Indeed, the female dimension is very present in the novel, torn between a moral conflict for some and what remains the respect of tradition for many others. The authors would like to present the work of adapting the novel Une si longue lettre into a micro-theatre performance by university students, as well as the work done by the professors so that the university public can enter Mariama Bâ’s universe, in order to grasp its feminist message and the issues at stake. In this article, we will detail the pedagogical scenario of this theatrical adaptation in three areas: cultural, scenic and prosodic.
